Make-A-Wish Foundation respects the privacy of all our donors/volunteers/supporters/event participants and we are committed to safeguarding the information you or your company’s representatives have given to us. This Data Protection Policy aims to help you understand our policy on collecting, using and disclosing your Personal Information.
The Personal Information which you or the representatives of your company provide to us whether from now on or previously will be used and processed, and continued to be used and processed by us, in accordance with this Data Protection Policy (as amended, varied or revised from time to time). We will take reasonable care and precaution to prevent the loss or misuse of your Personal Information. We may amend, vary or revise this Data Protection Policy from time to time. If we revise the Policy, we will post the changes on our website.
What is Personal Information?
Personal information means information about you and your company. This includes an individual’s name, home address and phone number, identification number, company’s name, job details, UEN number, financial information, educational history, etc.
1.1 What Personal Information do we collect?
We collect only the personal information that we need for the purposes of providing services to our donor/volunteers/supporters/event participants. We inform you before or at the time of collecting personal information, of the purposes for which we are collecting the information. The only time we don’t provide this notification is when you volunteer the information for an obvious purpose (for example, producing a credit card to pay for a donation when the information will be used only to process the payment).
1.2 How your Personal Information is collected?
The Personal Information we collect from you will be information that are, have been or may be collected by us or third parties who work with Make-A-Wish Foundation, or which you provide to us or our commissioned third party agencies from time to time, in connection with any donation, service, transaction, survey, questionnaire or communication with us or otherwise, and will include but not be limited to the following:-
- When you register to be a donor/supporter/volunteer/event participant of Make-A-Wish Foundation or register your interest with us to obtain information and updates;
- Information collected when you visit our website;
- Information collected when you respond to surveys or questionnaires from us or our third party agencies;
- At the point in time when you provide the information to any of our third party partners;
- Any inquiry or communication made with or to us pursuant to or consequential to any transaction mentioned above.
1.3 The Purposes of Collecting and Processing Your Personal Information
The purposes for which we collect your Personal Information are set out below:-
- To communicate with you and to respond to your queries;
- To process your donation, application, inquiry or request;
- To provide information and updates relating to Make-A-Wish Foundation or such services you requested in relation to your status as a donor/supporter/volunteer/event participant of Make-A-Wish Foundation;
- For administration of your donation;
- To conduct surveys, research and statistical analysis with the aim of helping us monitor and improve our services to you;
- The purposes as specified in our campaigns and events;
- To periodically send you email updates about new activities and events
Make-A-Wish Foundation does not sell, rent or lease its users’ list to third parties. We may share data with trusted partners such as our contractors, service providers, consultants, auditors and advisors etc. on a need to know basis, to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support or arrange deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to Make-A-Wish Foundation. They are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information. We will not share your personal information with other entities.
However, Make-A-Wish Foundation may be obliged to disclose your personal information, if required to do so by law or in good faith, that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Make-A-Wish Foundation or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Make-A-Wish Foundation; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Make-A-Wish Foundation, or the public.
Update of Your Personal Information
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that personal information is accurate and complete. We rely on you to notify us if there is a change to their personal information that may affect your relationship with Make-A-Wish Foundation. If you are aware of an error in our information about you, please let us know and we will correct it on request wherever possible. In some cases we may ask for a written request for correction.
By giving or making available your Personal Information, you expressly agree and consent to the collection, use, processing and disclosure of your Personal Information in accordance with the terms of this Data Protection Policy, including but not limited to, consenting to receiving communications and materials from us from time to time.
